LATER Trial
This study is for women how have completed a five year course of hormonal therapy for early breast cancer at last one year previously. We know that 50% of breast cancer recurrences in women with hormone sensitive breast cancers occur 5-15 years after initial diagnoses.
The optimal duration and best treatment schedule for treatment of breast cancer with an A1 remains unanswered. The LATER trial addresses the important question of whether additional treatment with an aromatase inhibitor started much later (from years 6-15 after diagnosis), could reduce the risk of breast cancer recurrence in postmenopausal women in these later and continued "at risk" years. |
