Specific Aims
• Establishing a baseline of breast cancer statistics in the greater Waikato region
• Allow health professionals to give meaningful outcome data as part of the informed consent process • Providing locally relevant data to clinicians for the purpose of audit: how does the Waikato compare both nationally and internationally? • Assisting in providing meaningful data to help with the development of treatment protocols • Evaluation of data regarding different ethnic/racial groups. Assess why there are inequalities in outcome for different ethnic/racial groups • Providing locally relevant data to managers to assist in accurate planning of cancer services in the Waikato area • Providing data to other research groups working on related research topics • Assist development of national treatment protocols • Monitoring the approved use of expensive treatments • Enable better national assessment of breast cancer outcomes • The overall goal is to provide information to support improvements in breast cancer care and elimination of inequalities faced by women in the Waikato and New Zealand |
